Textive is a personal SMS/MMS archive: you upload an export from SMS Backup & Restore, and Textive turns it into a searchable archive only you can see. This page describes what that involves in plain language. If anything here is unclear, email Contact and ask.
What we collect
Textive collects only what’s needed to run the service:
- Your email address, used solely to sign you in via a one-time link. Textive never creates or stores a password.
- Your archive itself — the messages, contacts, conversations, reactions, and attachments (photos, videos, files) contained in the SMS Backup & Restore export you upload.
- Import metadata — the filename, file size, and processing status of each import, so you can see its history in Settings.
What we don’t do
Textive doesn’t run analytics or tracking scripts, doesn’t use advertising identifiers, and doesn’t sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. There’s no third-party tracking on this site beyond what’s described below.
How your data is protected
Messages, contacts, and attachments are encrypted at rest, and every account’s data is isolated at the database level — there’s no way for one account to read another’s, and no feature that shares data between accounts. Once your uploaded export file has been processed into your archive, the original file is deleted from storage; only the encrypted, parsed data remains.
Who else handles your data
Running Textive means a small number of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Supabase — hosts the database, handles authentication, and stores encrypted attachment files.
- Trigger.dev — runs the background job that parses an uploaded export into your archive.
- Vercel — hosts the application itself.
None of these providers are given access to your data beyond what’s needed to run the infrastructure Textive is built on, and none of them are permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Your choices
Settings has a “delete everything” option that permanently removes your messages, contacts, conversations, attachments, and import history — you’ll be asked to type “delete” to confirm, since it can’t be undone. There’s currently no way to export your archive back out of Textive; your original SMS Backup & Restore file remains the copy of record, so keep it wherever you already keep it.
Children’s privacy
Textive isn’t directed at children, and isn’t intended for use by anyone under 13.

Textive is an early-access product and this policy may change as the service evolves. Meaningful changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
