Last updated August 2026.
These terms cover your use of Textive, a personal SMS/MMS archive built around SMS Backup & Restore exports. By creating an account, you agree to them. Textive is run as an early-access, single-developer project — these terms are written plainly, not as a substitute for reading them.
The service
Textive lets you upload an SMS Backup & Restore export and turns it into a searchable, private archive of your texts, photos, and attachments. It’s currently free during early access; that may change as the service develops, and you’ll be told before anything you’re already relying on changes in a way that affects you.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time email link — there’s no password. You’re responsible for keeping access to that email address secure, since it’s how your account is protected. One account is meant for one person’s archive; there’s no sharing or multi-user access today.
Your content
Your messages, contacts, and attachments remain yours. By uploading an export, you confirm you have the right to store and view the communications it contains — this matters here specifically because text and group messages often include content from other people, not just you. Textive doesn’t claim any ownership over what you upload, and only processes it to build and display your archive.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload an export you don’t have the right to store and view.
- Attempt to access another account or data that isn’t yours.
- Use the service in a way that disrupts it or abuses its infrastructure.
- Use Textive for anything unlawful.
Early-access software
Textive is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. As an early-access product, features may change, and uptime isn’t guaranteed. To the extent permitted by law, Textive isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.
Your SMS Backup & Restore export remains the copy of record for your data — see the Privacy Policy for how your uploaded file and archive are handled.
Ending your account
You can permanently delete your account’s data at any time from Settings. Textive may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms, particularly the acceptable-use section above.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as Textive develops. Meaningful changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
